Teeth Whitening

Few things are more appealing than a sparkling, white smile; however, teeth are rarely white without a little help. Tenney Dental performs teeth whitening in a professional dental setting. We help you achieve dramatic results with our economical cosmetic dental procedures.

Whether you choose in-office whitening or take-home treatment, we offer methods that are more effective than over-the-counter whitening products as well as more protective of sensitive gums and tooth-root surfaces. Whitening treatment begins with an oral exam to ensure that tooth discoloration is not the result of a dental condition in need of treatment.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

Lighten teeth three to eight shades in a single hour through our in-office whitening — the most powerful whitening solution available.

Gum and tooth-root surfaces are covered with a protective barrier to ensure your safety through treatment. Then, a thin plastic device (a retractor) will hold lips and cheeks away from your teeth as a professional-strength hydrogen peroxide gel is applied and left on for an hour. The results are immediately obvious once removed.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening

While an effective method of whitening teeth, take-home treatment requires the patient to take on a greater role in ensuring the best possible results. Several weeks may be needed to achieve the desired shade.

A mold of the teeth is first taken, and then two thin plastic mouth trays are custom made from the mold. Patients will need to fill the top and bottom trays with a whitening gel, position the trays correctly over the teeth, and leave them on for about an hour at a time.

Caring For Your Teeth

Results from either teeth whitening treatment can last between six months to two years. To ensure that results last as long as possible, maintain your usual routine of brushing and flossing every day as well as keep up with a regular schedule of professional cleanings at the dental office. Also, avoid foods and beverages that stain — including red wine, tea, and coffee.

Minor touch-ups every now and then will keep your smile bright and beautiful for years.
